Also known as DHA, dihydroxacetone is a natural tanning ingredient sourced from the fermentation of vegetable glycerine. When applied to the skin, DHA causes a natural reaction with the amino acids in the surface cells of your skin to create a tan. DHA is non-toxic and only effects the outermost layer of the epidermis (stratum corneum) so does not damage skin.
